My Favourite Images

This picture in my opinion is very interesting, because its a unusual view and its not a something you would see everyday.

The subject of this picture was on The World Upside Down. The reason i took this picture is because its a unusual position and the buildings design is interesting.

My Photography Essay

What my photo essay is going to be about is how to prepare and make a roast dinner. I will be taking pictures of preparation, making it and then finally the end product.

My purpose of my photo essay is to show how a roast dinner is prepared and made.

Who is your audience? Who would you like to view your essay?

The people who I would like to view my essay are people who like to cook or who want to no how to make a roast dinner.

What pictures do you plan on taking?

I plan on taking pictures of a roast dinner, before, during and after cooking.

Preparation - Cleaning surfaces, getting utensils ready (close up)

Getting the chicken ready - stuffing it (medium shot, close up)

During - Cooking the chicken, vegetables, roast potatoes (close up of the chicken in the oven)

After - The finished product (medium shot of the finished product on the plate)

Build up to the exhibition

For Children in Need the media department done a rag week. A rag week is where everyday you dress up as something different, like on Tuesday it was day glow (neon day) on Wednesday it was mad hat day, Thursday was random day where you could dress up as anything and Friday was heroes and villains.

On Tuesday i wore lots of glow sticks on my wrists and around my neck and on Wednesday i wore a big England hat.
On the Friday there was a photo exhibition that we put on downstairs by the lifts. All the photos that were taken throughout the week of the different costumes people wore and placed on boards which were then put onto tables so people from around the college could look at them.

During the exhibition, people from around the college could come and get there pictures taken. I took a few photo's of people who were in costume.

Photography notes

A deflector is used to get rid of or control shadows.

I also learnt what a Infill Light is. A Infill Light is used to light up the face, so you can get rid of shadows that are not wanted.

The 3 point lightig set up is one of the most used and most common setups used.

The World Turns Upside Down

This picture was taken in the Memorial gardens.
i like this image because it kind of looks like a collage in my opinion.

This picture was also taken in the Memorial garden's, but i don't really like this picture.
I have used a over the head shot, also known as a birdseye shot.

The picture here was taken at one of the entrances by the Memorial gardens.
I really like this picture because it is unusual. The angle i used for the picture is a upward angle.

This is a picture of the new library and has been taken with a upward angle again.
The building is a little unusual because of the bits you can see in the photo, which come out.

Portrait photo

This is my favourite picture i chose for the portrait task. I chose this one because it is colourful and interesting in my opinion. It was taken in one shot.

Decisive moment picture

The picture that i took for the decisive moment task that i chose as one of my favourites was of a woman going past on her bike. I chose this one because it was one of the best ones and because she is the only person in the scene.

Urban VS Nature

The three pictures i took today have a bit of nature and a bit of urban in. The first one has a big shopping mall, cars, traffic and some tress in it. This is because you can see how much the world has changed from being green with tress and bushes to having cars and big shops taking over.

The second picture is of a big building with a few bushes in.

The third picture is of the college and you can also see a gas box with acorns on and you can see tress branches.

Alternative Landscape- David Hockney

This image is a very weird one, as it is images of chairs copyand pasted together to make it look like one chair is broken

The picture here is of a person swimming, but it is multiple pictures of what looks like to me is the same person.

Here is thousands pf pictures f different things put together to make it look like it is one picture, but it is all different pictures. He has made it purposely look like diferent pictures.

Alternative Landcape-Andreas Gursky

This picture is very colourful and bright. The Golden Thrid rule applies to this picture as it has some sort of object in the middle, which looks like a globe.

This picture is of buildings, and the Golden Thrid rule doesn't apply to this picture as there is detail every where and there are hardly any 'gaps' in the image.

histry of Potography

The invention of photography was in 1839, but the idea was around much longer.

Foreground of the pictures is what is in front of the picture, whereas the background is what is in the back of the picture.

The 'Golden Third is the middle, this is because it contains most of the detail.

Notes of Photography lesson 25th september 09

I took some notes down today of the photography lesson that Chris done today.

When a image hits the first mirror on a camera it i upside-down, but then gets turned back up the right way when it hits the second one.
F-Stops vary from 2.4 all the way to 22. The larger the number the smaller the hole.

Shutter speeds vary from around 1 second to around 1/1000th of a second, and the slower the shutter speed the more light will get through, the faster the shutter speed, the less light will get through.

D.O.F= Depth of Field. When the aperture number is higher, the background will be in focus more.

The Tate Image i Disliked

The work that i found the most boring and disliked was a painting on paper by Max Uhlig. In my opinion it jut seems very dull and uninteresting and just lots of scribbles on paper. It seems like he did not take his time with this piece of work and was very much rushed. Max Uhlig Autumn Bouquet 1980-1

The Tate Image i Liked

The picture that i was most drawn to is called Flowers and was drawn by Pablo Picasso. I was most drawn to this picture because it is very colourful and stands out. It was all done by oil on canvas and looks very interesting. Pablo Picasso Flowers 1901
